PostSubject: Fingers crossed   Fingers crossed EmptyTue Mar 25, 2008 4:39 pm

OK, I know its early and we've had some false alarms before,

but right now it looks like well be able to get our hands on an A&K M249 SAW for testing.

Airsplat has said that it was willing to send us a sample, but of course seeing is believing so well have to wait and see.

BTW, the polls have been a great way for me to see what everyone wants next and I was amazed to see the P90 so far out in front.

Now, to the best of my knowledge, there is no E1 version of this gun yet, but I will def. try to get a P90 next.

I can't say when or what brand, but Ill put out feelers and try to get things rolling for that AFTER the M249.

I'm going to be preparing for finals so I'll be busy, but I won't forget you guys Wink

Regards,

Konrad

Just give it to me if you get it, I'll test it free of charge!
*Testing might take a couple years*

Anyways, this is great! Yay for M249s! Boo for aiming!

Hey you never but up the firing report of the TSD M9 I was looking for that the other day and also where can you get the upgraded spring? Is it hard to install?

Airsplat is usually good about doing what they say. I'm their primary review writer currently, and if he says he'll send something, he sends it.

Good luck, and have fun!

Thats Great! My friend just got a TOP M249 for his birthday, I really wanted to see how well a clone is. I expect high performance for its quality, and it is probably worth buy for a first Machinegun than the TOP, but it is just a guess, I cant wait!

Airsplat has always been true to its word.

For me thats never been a concern and Kent has sent quite a bit of product my way.

However, I won't start drooling till we get the tester in the shop.

I did some research and found out a lot about this model. Apperantly their are several potential trouble spots and Ill be sure to check those out to confirm or deny the rumors.

Just to name a few of the alleged design flaws:

Hop up unit is poorly constructed allowing for poor backspin and the bucking is apperantly junk as well.

Also, some reviewers complained of bulky box mag attachment issues. (The link below illustrates a GREAT review that suggests a simple fix for this issue).

Additionally, there have been rumors that the gearbox, while easily accessed is poorly lubed. In this line, according to the review [link below] the piston has some compression issues due to a small gap in the piston sleeve.

Finally, the trigger itself has been criticized as being to long. (Again, the reviewer in the link below has suggested some quick fixes).

http://storm-soc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=59&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

So going into the review I am going to be on the look out for these issues. Of course you never can tell whether its a question of lemons or a more wide spread problem. It is technically an MPEG, especially in comparison to the pricer offerings.

But over all I am excited. I mean, a battery fed box mag with a claimed 2500 bb capacity? drooooool...... Claimed stock fps of 380-400? drooool.

BTW, one more issue raised has been feed issues with the mechanized box mag. Again, we'll see.

Now I have requested the "Para" model with the collapsible stock and shortened barrel, but the rumors are still that this thing is a BEAST to carry around.

Im sure a sling will be used, and of course, the weight of the thing will be a detriment (At least in my book), but I've got an open mind.

I mean it is a LMG its not exactly a pea shooter design.

Hopefully, with a little TLC and perhaps some battery upgrades, I will be able to get this thing purring a long like the beauty it emulates.

I hope to get an increase ROF of course, and in light of the "Quick swap" spring options, I imaging that it wouldn't be too hard to put in a slightly lighter spring and achieve a higher ROF that way, in concert with perhaps a slightly upgraded bat config.

...I smell a summer project...

As for the M9, sorry about that, at this point I won't be posting the firing report. I have too many other things going on right now.

Sad

^Konrad, I can confirm pretty much all of those concerns. I'm in the process of reviewing mine, and I ran into pretty much all the same problems.

It's all easily fixed, so it's no big concern.

OK, so all is on track to get the M249, however, unfortunately, Kent will be out of town on business for a few weeks. This means that I will not likely be getting the SAW in house for at least a month.

Sad

So it goes, more time to tinker on the E1 M4 Project gun.

I am happy to report that we got the SAW in the two days ago and have begun preliminary testing.

For a "Mini review" click here

http://www.airsoftreports.com/AandKm249Paraeditorreview.html

Also, I have placed the "user review" section under the "reviews" tab on the nav bar.

So take a look and if you're interested in submitting a review its really as simple as copying and pasting your review from the forum and then posting on the blog. (Rather, notify Sgt. Hartwig or myself and we will post it for you with your name appearing as the author).

We already have a couple (Thanks Sgt. Hartwig and Airsoftguy), but we need lots more.

Regards!

Happy to hear that Airsplat came through! They have always been great for me in regards to reviews, as well as normal shopping.

Have fun with it, and if you are interested in any mods, let me know. I'm working on some custom parts for them.

So far, I've already ditched my bipod and mounted a vertical grip in the channel on the foregrip, because I found myself never using the bipod. It helps with the "box mag hitting your forearm" issue that lots of people, myself including, have reported.

If you want to keep the bipod, I am designing an alternative to the pricy G&P Ranger grip, which should be a pretty easy project.

Internally, mine should be running an 11.1v lipo by the end of the month, so I'll let you know any failure points.

Here's my vert-gripped PARA:
Fingers crossed 14011415929

I also rewired it to 16g, and changed from small Tamiya plugs to Deans, the combo of which upped my ROF 60% from 10 RPS to 16 RPS on the stock battery. I'll be changing all my guns to Deans over the next few days (if my AI grenade doesn't show up first), and I'll be logging the ROF changes.

Deans and fat wires, lol

Yes, it's heatshrinked, it's just clear on the positive end.

Great stuff! Keep it coming!

By the way our skirmish with this model was GREAT!

IT really laid down the fire and helped to make for some great wins in our games.

Also, we have finished filming of the quality report and should hopefully complete the firing report tomorrow.

Check out the blog for some more pictures and stay tuned to Youtube for the videos.

All the best!
