What Gas for a Y&P M9 Empty
PostSubject: What Gas for a Y&P M9   What Gas for a Y&P M9 EmptyThu Jan 31, 2008 12:25 am

Hey guys,
I am totally new to gas guns and I'm wondering what gas i should use. Shortyusa says that it uses 134a??? I have no clue at all what this means so it would be great if you could make some suggestions on which type of gas to get and where from. Thanks.

Some review on Airsoft Retreat has a user with green gas/propane. My buddy is buying the MK.23 and that is fine with green gas, so I'd assume the M9 functions the same.

Basically, 134a is a gas that will provide the gun with slightly less FPS than green gas/propane, and usually should be used in guns that may not be able to handle green gas. I personally think that it has little effect on a guns lifespan, so the only thing I can tell is you to go with green gas/propane, whichever suits you.

I say green gas for 2 reasons, you dont want a exploding gun with propane, and it doesnt smell as bad
it is also better for your gun, and has silicon lubricant inside it

Why not just look and THEN post. That would be, oh I dont know, the logical way to do it. And your gun has just as much probability to "explode" with green gas as with propane as chemically they are equally flamable and expand the same. The danger with propane comes from the use of the adapter and actually filling the clip as commercial propane tanks were not designed to do this repetitively and if there is error in instalation of the adapter then leaks/breaks could become a hazzard. The whole "which gas" question has been asked on this site (as well as many others) before so do some research on this topic yourself and decide for yourself. I'm an avid gas pistol user and green gas serves my purposes the best in being conveinient and almost odorless. I get mine here as its the best I've found for the price and service: http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/Airsoft_Gas_Green_For_Taiwanese_Airsoft_Guns_p/sdgg1000.htm

I am sorry, but I did not like the pointless strike against me, are you trying to prove some darn point, why, you could say something but you dont have to start attacking me for my post
who the hell do you think you are

But, I do agree with you, that was the gas I am going to post about, since that I posted a topic about green gas

The mixture of silicon oil in the green gas, helps you lubricate your gun, instead of doing it yourself, I am sorry that I have made you mad, but try restraining yourself next time, is there a point of your insults, I really do not appreciate it

That can in the link is 1100 ml which means it averages 3000 (+/-) bb's per can. So that math works out: mag cap is 22 so 3000/22=~136 clips. Now thats based on averages taken from peak performance and no leaks during fill-ups so I'd say you're best bet is around 100 or so.

Would this work for the Y&P??? If you notice at the bottom it says that it may be damaging to guns that are supposed to use 134A and I think that is what it is supposed to take. I just want to order everything from that one site so shipping will be less. Thanks.

PostSubject: Re: What Gas for a Y&P M9   What Gas for a Y&P M9 EmptyTue Feb 05, 2008 7:01 pm

No, get it. NBBs in general can use any gas because red and green is only detrimental to certain blowback guns. 134A is meant for JAPANESE guns which is why you almost always see Mauri GBBs marketed as only using this lower powered gas. Y&P is capable of handling higher power because most likely it is Taiwanese or Chinese which uses a system much more durable to handle more powerful propellants. BUT you dont even have to worry about that here as NBB's dont have the moving parts and more complicated system which gives red gas the risk so feel free to use any gas you find b/c your M9 will take it, trust me. I've used lots of NBB's, including my now sold Y&P Mk23, which I ALWAYS used with red gas so feel free to use any gas: green, red, or otherwise.
