Just bought this of AirsoftAtlanta, updates when it gets here. This is going to be my CQB gun, so I think I'll leave it stock, maybe a motor upgrade though. I cant wait to fire this.

You're right, but if I want a red dot or something I will just buy a mount. When Colt closes a door, they open a window

That's pretty cool how you can use a red dot/iron sights. (if your red dot dies/batteries die, you still have your iron sights)

My friend has the JG version and I personally don't like the looks of the gun. (probably because the carrying handle is stuck on there and it looks like it came from a toy gun) lol

What made you decide to buy that particular version? (other than the fact you have M4 mags)

Bummer that it has an incorrect receiver for an XM177 project...

Companies just can't get a simple thing right.

Certainly post pics though, I love XM177 like guns. I've been wanting to build one up for Vietnam games.

What do you mean by that? Is the receiver different from normal M4s?

Well, for a TRUE XM177 (not 177E1) the receiver is a good bit different. The carry handle is attached, there is no forward assist, receiver guards around the mag release, and brass deflector is shaped differently.

I like early Vietnam loadouts especially Airforce Combat Controllers, so I've gotta have the original, non E-1 177.

But, I'm just splitting hairs here, lol...
With the Vietnam players, they are a stickler for details. Worse than WW2 players.

Technically, there were several different models and variations in the GAU5/XM177 series, but still, the TM has a FEW key features wrong. You can get away with the forward assist, as the E1 and a few other models have it, but the receiver shape and brass deflector are a dead giveaway.


Now, to Senor, the gun is good as just a gun, don't get me wrong. It's just the silly perfectionist in me that is looking for a proper reenactment weapon. For your purposes, it should be great.

Plan on upgrading it, or do you want it to last forever, lol?
EDIT: Just saw the "upgrade the motor" plan, so nevermind. Fire it first, the ROF with an 8.4 should be very decent. You may not even want to upgrade.

Lol, you have to keep it stock unless the spring becomes really weak. CQB limit- 300fps or below. You could just buy an m85 or m90 if you need to.

I know, but I was just thinking of ways to improve it.
