So he was mainly pushing paper around the office?
Because a SgtMaj is a desk job.
And I thought your dad was more the combat line?

Medic, most likely SgtMaj then.

Medics are a great field, when someone is dieing, who do they call?
It's not the morgue.

Today, the only way to be an officer is to go to ROTC in college.
There may be another way, but I think not.

And from the sounds of it your dad joined the Army out of high school in order to achieve that rank without a formal education.
If he had formal education he would be an officer.

Am I right?

It's cool.

I don't care what you did in the military, you helped out.

If there were no medics many people would have died who could have been saved.

I'm pretty sure First Sergeant is higher than Sergeant Major.

I never thought there were nearly that many ranks. Maybe we could use some of those for ranks on this site seeing that people who have a trillion and a half posts don't have a pic for their rank.
