ok, so what gun would be better for me. i play in snowy weather, and 60-80 degree weather (michigan ftw) and i can't decide what gun to get. he m4a1 has a V2 gearbox, which could be affected in cold weather, but the g36 has a V3.

SIDE NOTE: How do the little "nubs" on the magazine work to clamp another magazine to it? wouldn't the frame of the gun get in the way if the magazines weren't spaced enough?

The G36C holds 450 and is the most accurate

The M4 holds 300 and has better range, but not that good of accuracy

They are both pretty compact

It just depends where you are playing

I love my G36C because the rof is better than the other models I believe. It's a balanced gun.

I'd go G36C but that's just me

If you really like M4's it is also a great gun

It just depends where you are playing

The "nubs" lock together so you don't have to get an mag clamps for the G36C. The nubs are spaced out far enough from the mag that it won't affect anything.

They are both great guns
I would go with the G36 because of the quality factor
I have both and the G36 seems much more sturdy
Also I like the sights
(it also looks sexy)
woodlands range doesnt matter much because a lot of times you are really close to your enemies

thanks

I also lived in Michigan, ten years to be exact. I find it hard to believe its only 60-80 now, what part do you live in?

My advice for playing in snowy weather:
*Do not let your weapon get in the snow, when snow melts it turns into water. Now, as we all know, water will damage a weapon.
*Gas, such as green gas, does not like the cold weather. While in the snowy season do not use a gas weapon, stick to the electrics.
*Only play in the day light, when the sun goes down the temperatures drop drastically.

Hope this helps you out Python.

I'd go with the G36C

but, I've also heard that the V3 M4 is a lot better than the V2. (it got metal bushings and a metal spring guide, which the G36C also has)

I don't know if the V3 M4 is more accurate than it was or if they meant the internals are better.

I'd say get the G36C

If you can afford to pay more DEFINITELY GET THIS. It has a WAY better gearbox, has a better ROF, and is more accurate. It DOES NOT come with a battery or charger, so you will have to buy them separately which will cost about 50 total.

Ahem...prepare for rant on airsoft barrel length and its relation to accuracy...

First the actual difference in the barrel length is only something like 6 inches.

In a real steel firearm this could make a world of difference not the least of which would be a result of differing cartridges, charges etc...

The reason it makes a difference is bc the bullet has a chance to spin more (Rifling) and thus gain more gyroscopic stability, but also bc there is more room for higher compression cartridges to build higher pressures behind the bullet which is then pushed to faster speeds.

NOW

Take the humble airsoft gun.

Unlike in real firearms...all the ammo diameters are the same, the projectile weights are nearly identical and there is neither rifling nor extremely high pressure (Usually).

The 243 (ish) mm barrel of the G36C will not lose much range to the 363(ish) mm M4 barrel.

If there is a difference, I would be willing to bet that it will be indiscernible to the average airsofter.

LOL...

OK...deep breaths...happy place...

Seriously though, understand that the barrel length in airsoft play FAR LESS of a role in the ballistics performance of the bb than in the real steel.

If you would like a better measure of predicted accuracy look to
barrel to bb fit. If the gun has a tightbore barrel its a good bet it will be somewhat more accurate (Tighter groupings) and possibly have marginally better range (MAYBE 25ft). The point is, in airsoft...if someone where to say "Model 'X' is more accurate than Model 'Y' bc 'X' has a tightbore barrel and an upgraded hop up", then it would be a far more accurate statement than any commentary on the length of the barrel.

That said, there is ONLY ONE QUESTION to ask yourself;

"Which gun do I like the look of better?"

If the answer is the M4...then by all means buy the M4 or the G36C...its really all up to you.

If however, you find that you really cant make up your mind and you like the look of both equally, heres why I would chose the G36C over the M4.

1. Ammo cap - Always nice to have nearly 500 bbs at your disposal...and yes the tabs on the sides work great for keeping an extra mag ready to be slapped in. (BTW machismo aside...all of us spray and pray from time to time...sometimes its the guy with the most ammo cap that is left standing when it comes down to suppressing fire)
2. Battery compartment - On the G36C its ROCK SOLID... one that retaining pin is in place there is virtually no risk of an accidental battery drop bc your fore grip came apart! Ala E1 M4A1.
3. Barrel length/Compactness - If your playing in a wooded environment, you will have to contend with brush a fair amount. Here the M4's barrel would be quite a liability and could snag much more easily. Contrast that with the slab sided G36C and the probability of snags is dramatically reduced. (This can really be useful when making a mad dash through the woods).
4. Perceived durability- I say perceived bc in truth their is really nothing wrong with the M4...it just feels a little flimsy in MPEG airsoft form. The G36C is basically a brick of plastic with a barrel and a stock poking out on either end. (This isn't a very "sexy" description but I feel its accurate). This design makes the G36C fairly immune from snags, body flex etc...
5. Out of the box upgradeability - Imho, the G36C is superior to the M4 for the sole reason that it comes with three R.I.S. rails already mounted to the nose of the gun.

REMEMBER!!!!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the M4A1!!!!!!

IF YOU LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS>>>Disregard all the anti M4 comments and buy the M4...its your money...you have to live with your choice!

Best of luck!

Yeah it does in airsoft, a little bit, I you put a TM MP5K with the TM PSG1 which one is more accurate right maybe, like a systema, my M4 is less accurate then the Systema M16 I might get,but why??

@Admin: I'm talking about in your videos.

How the G36C seemed to be more accurate then the M4. As far as range, I've heard SEVERAL people claim that the M4 has better range for some reason.

I am aware that barrel length only affects range, not much, but it does make a difference. Like if you have a sniper, it will most likely shoot farther than an MP5K.

I'd go with the G36C because the barrel won't hit a tree and snap when you are running. The G36 also seems to be built more sturdy. I love mine, but if you like M4's then it's a great choice too.

DO NOT QUOTE LONG POSTS.
