PostSubject: Small AEG   Small AEG EmptyMon Dec 24, 2007 12:45 pm

Hey,
I'm looking for a small AEG that I can carry around along with my JG BAR10. I currently have an AK and that is just oo big and heavy. I have been looking mainly at the echo 1 varients of the MP5 and have narrowed my searches to the MP5 J (the one with the sliding stock) and the MP5 Navy version(th one with the flashlight on the front) They both seem almost the same but I do like the looks of the navy version better. Which gun do you think would be the best or am I looking at the wrong guns.

Well Scott they are both similar guns, but the mp5-j cannot fit a bigger battery but I also don't think you will need that. The mp5 -j's stock is retractable though so it can be very small. I have more advice that I can give you if you join the chat.

I have to say I'm really getting tired of these 'which gun' threads.

First of all, do some research by yourself. Use the search feature. Then if you can't find anything consult us.

I just had to say that, because we are being eaten alive.

The mp5k is the smallest AEG out there with respectable power and range. Both the Galaxy and the Echo 1 version are good buys.

However, I think you'd be best off with an AEP. When I play as a sniper with my L96 I find that lugging my mp5k around to still be a bit bulky. Look into the CYMA G18 or the DE USP (aka M81). These are pretty much the best AEP's on the market for the price. The WELL MP7 is also a good compact aeg, but the quality control is iffy so a lot of them act differently than they should. If you like the mp7 get the TM version, but be prepared to pay over 200 for it. An AEP with extra clips is still your best bet though. They are QUIET compared to other AEGs and cost about a third of the price.

No one has reccomended the mp7 yet that is also a very good choice small and compact and is perfect when someone is less than 50ft away

I would recomend the Echo1 MP5 K PDW. It is supposed to be a very good gun., and its very compact.

Personally, i find that AEP's just arent good enough. The FPS is just too low, and could be dodged by a moving target. I think youre best bet will be the mp5k. They have a larger mag cap., and are nearly the same size as an AEP. It's more upgradeable because it is an AEG, and if it breaks you dont have to worry about replacement parts because they are so numerous.

An mp5k is NOT nearly the same size as an AEP. Its small for an AEG, yes, but nearly the same size as a glock or USP? No way. I'm speaking from experience here. I've taken my ehco1 mp5k in the field with my sniper rifle and I've done the same with my G18 and USP and I think that for a sniper they are just better choices. They cost about a third as much, you can get hicap mags for the glock pretty easily, and they are super quiet when firing, not loud and sharp like the mp5k firing. If you've got somebody less than 50 feet away, it will take more time to shoulder the mp5 and aim (making you move around substantially more giving your position away) than to outstretch your arm and aim with an AEP which is a lot quicker. You can even put a laser on the AEP like I do which makes looking down the sights unimportant. You could put a laser on the mp5 but on the top rail its awkward and youd be better off with a red dot anyway. I've simply gotten WAY more kills with my glock AEP or USP than with my mp5k. FPS doesnt matter here because a sniper's sidearm is meant to be used in closer ranges, and these AEP's excell in that regard.
