I think it would be great I have seen one with a decent powered scope ( I'm not sure what power but I think 3-9x32) and he was very good with it. If he likes to sit back and camp this isnt a great gun if he likes to rush not the best gun for him but if he likes to lie back a little behind a group I think its a great gun. But that is just my opinion its not set in stone or anything.

Why not just get the Echo 1 M16 DMR. It would be more versatile.
