3-7X28 scope? How will this work?

Ive been looking at a scope for my jg aug and i found a local seller selling a RWS 3-7X28 scope (no link sorry). It has 3-7X magnification, a range selector from 25 feet to 300 meters, and obviously crosshair adjustment.
My question is this overkill for my jg aug, and what i mean by overkill is will 3X to much magnification for distances ranging from 20ft to 150ft? Will it even be able to adjust correctly to my gun (since i have only seen scopes like this on air guns with 800+fps)? I just have not used a scope like this on any of my airsoft guns, i have only used red dots on my tm augs.

I would try to find a scope that starts at 2X zoom, my friend got a 3x-9x for his sniper and it was way overkill, he never went more than 5. I suggest either a 2x-whatever you can find zoom or a red dot scope.

Anything over a standard 1X magnification red dot or such, is overkill in my opinion. With your mean engagement range of most likely 80-110ft, anything optics more than a red dot or w/e is really useless. Even at maximum ranges of 140-160ft, a red dot will hold its own just fine. Try G&P Aimpoint, or heck even an EOTech replica(I have one, its great), they will serve you well, and are not too expensive.
