| I'm looking into buying a sniper and I want to buy the best one in the range between $100-$200. Has anyone had any expierience with any snipers and has any suggestions. I am interested in the L96 Arctic Warfare. | |

| Also here is how I feel about airsoft snipers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlPNK5xqZwg&feature=related. Although I did not make the video I totally agree. Unless your willing to spend at LEAST $800 sniping will not be fun and totally a waste of money and time. If you are willing to spend that kind of money look into getting a CA M24, TM VSR-10, or Maruzen gun. If you like the idea of sniping with gas guns then go for a Tanaka. | |

My cheapo unmodded sniper rifle outranges every stock AEG I've played with, as well as most of the modded ones. It is more accurate, quieter, and is just plain fun. You don't need an UbEr 1337 rifle making 300' shots to be effective or have fun. It all depends on the person. For me, half the fun is making the stalk. Closing to within 200' of someone who is hunting you (and is better armed), working your fieldcraft to perfection, and being the eyes and ears of your team, and providing valuable recon info so the rest of the team can make the appropriate movements. That is the stuff that excites me about being a sniper, the challenge of being outmanned, outgunned, overnumbered, and having the entire team count on my information. You don't need an $800 rifle to do that

| Well your 60$ is an exception you got me on that one, I knew you would bring that up . But you might want to TRY sniping before you jump into the roll. It is very different you end up sitting around a lot and you have to be an accurate shot. | |

| Well if you have an accurate shot, patience, a decent gun, and stealthyness you can be a sniper. I would recommend the JG BAR 10 or the TSD/Well L96. | |

Actually, if you wouldnt mind... No, but I was wondering what kind of performance one could expect from the JG BAR 10 or the WELL L96 after some minor tuning? -Bert.

| Speaking of tuning, is it true that the air brake mod on the JG BAR 10 will give it "529fps" or is that just an exaggeration.
Also, the JG BAR 10 and Well L96 will probably be able to go to 170` accurately ,but if you want more you can get a TB, spring, barrel spacers, etc.

| ^I've seen Bar-10s get anywhere from 480-510 FPS just with cutting the airbrake. | |

| I think Booligan has a point in regards to the cost of the "Sniper" rifle.
I will add that IMHO the "Stealth" element of the spring powered airsoft gun is a legitimate reason to purchase such an item.
HOWEVER, no matter which gun you choose just remember that any benefit that you gain from using the sniper rifle will likely be similar to forced loss of a sense. (I.e. forced blindness where your other senses are heightened)
The gains you make will be teaching yourself patience, timing, breathing technique stalking conserving your ammo etc...
In all reality there will not be a "Reach out and touch" benefit gained from a spring powered "Sniper" airsoft gun. (As opposed to the difference between a real steel SMG and a real steel sniper rifle where different bullets sizes, powder charges and a barrel lengths make the difference)
I think expenditure on a mid priced sniper rifle would be a better investment then blowing your cash on the more expensive model.
Use the savings to make a good ghillie suit (Or buy one) and or acquire a good side arm, procure a good scope etc oh AND a TB barrel.
When you realize that the "Sniper" is not just a guy with a long range gun, then you will most likely realize that mo money isnt the ONLY answer.
Best of luck! | |

| I believe I am going to an air soft game tomorrow with a guy who has a UTG sniper, I am not sure what model, but he got an upgrade pack that included a TB and a new spring, he is sorta a noob so he could not tell me the specs, but since it was upgraded it was hitting 250 feet. I am hoping I will be able to use it for a round or so. | |

| ^It's the M324. All the upgrade pack does is bring Gen 1 and 2 M324s up to Gen 3 specs. The tightbore barrel is 6.08mm, which is tighter than the original bore of about 6.12, lol...
Max range will be about 170', so don't get your hopes up about his claims of 250' shots...

| Well I know for sure he hit me at 200'. I measured , I guess it was just a really lucky shot, I do believe he got another TB and used it instead of the one that came with the pack. He says its a 6.03mm. However I can be impressed by little seeing as how he is the only one with a sniper right now... | |

| So overall to beat your friend you can buy a JG BAR 10 or the Well L96 and put a couple upgrades in it (spring,TB,scope) and you'll have a sniper over 500fps that is accurate over 200`. Without shipping it will cost a little over $200 depending on what exactly you buy(the quality). | |

| Well L96 is great, I just shot one last week. ITs very accurate, but I also shot the TSD, and the TSD is way more accurate | |

| ^The TSD is the WELL, lol... TSD doesn't change anything on it, but adds an extra mag.
The TSD, WELL, and UTG L96 rifles are all the same, internally, externally, everything. The only thing that varies are the accessories.
With that said, the MB03 or BAR-10 would be better, because of the hop-up design. The WELL/Rebrand L96 has a U hop, which puts pressure only on the very top point of the BB, which leads to inconsistancy, while the MB02/3 and Bar-10 have a V hop, which puts pressure all over the top half of the bb, which leads to more consistant hop-up effect and less side to side deviation. All other things equal, the gun with the V hop will always be more accurate than the gun with the U hop.
Combine that with the fact that L96 parts (internal and external) are much more expensive and hard to find than VSR-10 parts (Bar-10 and MB series) and the BAR-10 and MB series are better choices.
The L96 may shoot faster, but is less accurate. I would know, I have both and have done side by side comparisons, and once again, the cheapo $60 MB03 came out on top of the $120+ L96.

| Lol, maybe the hop up was adjusted or the scope was calibrated for the TSD, since it seemed more accurate | |

| If I was to get anything, I would probably get a BAR 10 G-SPEC. Even though the sniper itself looks sorta plain. Unlike a L96. | |
