| I usually charge my battery all the way shoot some, disconnect it from the gun, shoot some more the next day and mabye even a third day then recharge it and keep it unplugged from the gun. I know batterys can develpoe memery but how carefull do i have to be? i charge it for the allotted time no tmore and when i do charge it i charge it from dead battery to full charge (bout 2 hrs 20 min) is what i'm doing ok or should i get a discharger and use that after i'm done for the day? and then charge it again before i need it again? | |

| Here's the deal: I work with electronics as a hobby, and I have been using RC car batteries for quite a while in my creations. People may say that you need to discharge batteries, do certain things, etc. You can read several battery topics all across the internet about how to keep and store a battery. But from my experience, it really doesn't matter if you keep a battery charged or not, since the batteries tend to lose their charges rather quickly over time. I leave my JG Sig 552 battery in the gun, and I've had it since Feb. of this year. I believe I have charged the Battery a grand total of two times. An odd battery... My 9.6V loses charge in about a week. Anyway, I have never had problems with my NICD or NIMH packs and I use several of them often.
I would say pop the battery on a smart charger the night before you intend to use it. Keep playing airsoft until you can't shoot anymore, and repeat.

| ok so if i charged it fully, went airsofting and didn't use all the power and left it out of the gun half charged for about 2-3 days would it be fine or should i finish it off? | |

| You would be fine, but I'd always suggest charging the battery prior to shooting. Keeping the voltage at its highest will help keep ROF high and will obviously let you shoot a lot more.
EDIT: Just to make sure I wasn't driving the wrong point: To make an airsoft gun have greatest effeciency, you'll want the battery to be in good condition. Now, I'm not a battery expert, but I just meant to say that I think a lot of articles out there that go mega in depth about batteries are telling you a lot of things that (in my opinion), are a bit overboard.

| ok yes i know that i should always try and keep my battery ar full charge or at least half way when i go shooting however i never know how long to charge it after i shoot for and occasional couple hours. would a smart charger be i good option? i'm guess ing yes but would it need any monitoring during chargeing? if so then wouldn't that defeat the purpous? i mean would it be ok if i left the battery on the smart charger too charge and say went out biking for 4 hours? it would cut off vltage and not over charge my battery? or is leaving it on for extended periods of time after charge bad? | |

| One of the best investments in airsoft is a smart charger. It will probably charge your battery faster, and it will (always) automatically shut off when the battery is charged. If you leave it half way charged, it could be dangerous to guess a time limit and leave it on a regular charger. A smart charger will charge the battery and stop when it is done, no matter how much juice is left in it. | |
