Can a mock silencer work like a barrel extension?

well i want to get a longer TB barrel and was wondering if a mock silencer would protect the extra barrel that would stick out

Oh, yes it would.

That's what 99% of airsofters use mock silencers for.

Keep in mind, if you get too long, you will have to replace your cylinder.

If you are kidding you should make it more obvious, some people don't know sportlines have crappy internals.
