| my friend is thinking about getting into airsoft, and was asking me what gun I recommend. He is on a bit of a budget, looking for a gun around $100 (preferably no more than that).
We'd mainly play outdoors, not too much cqb
Should I recommend the galaxy mp5k/k-pdw or the jg mp5sd5/sd6? the prices on airsofgti are 99.99 and 89.95.
any advice is welcome

| No,
I'd get a JG gun
Since you play mostly outdoors and some CQC, I'd tell him to get the JG G36C. The gun's size is perfect for really any situation.

| Stealth, I think you haven't read any of KRAD's long rants on these types of things. So let me clarify it for you.
Barrel length does not noticeably affect range in airsoft.
Thus since he plays woodland, it would be his preference in the gun.
So explain, why not get a MP5K-PDW?

| If he likes the MP5-k then sure get it.
The G36C does shoot farther than the mp5k and is more powerful
I said get the G36C because it is arguably one of the best guns JG has produced and it is very compact. I'm saying the "size" is perfect for any situation.

| From what I understand, the magazine capacity is also nearly double. | |

| Yes that is another reason to buy the G36C.
Its mags clamp together, so you do not need a mag clamp/pouch.

Please cite where you got this information from regarding the G36C's range against the MP5K-PDW's rage. I agree that the G36c is more powerful, but by what 10 fps? I'm not saying don't get the G36C, but give the guy a unbiased opinion. But, he asked about the JG MP5 and the Galaxy MP5. So lets talk about those, and not go off topic. You guys know the rules about which gun threads.

| Well according to shortyusa.com, the MP5K's effective range is 120 feet, while the G36C effective ranges 150. Also according to Shortyusa.com, the MP5Ks ROF is 600, while the G36C is 800 | |

| Hey, shortyusa said that my UHC M9 I bought 2 years ago had an effective range of 90Ft, but when I got it it couldn't hit a man sized target from 70ft.
DO NOT believe retailer specs about range. They are always off.
Your facts are weak at best. Face it the guns perform nearly the same. They just are based off different rs firearms.

| Getting back on topic: I think the mp5k would be the better of the bunch listed. I'd definately get the pdw stock though. I have the echo1 version, but its the same gun. I began airsoft on gas guns, but this was my first AEG. I think it a great gun all around, esp. to enter into airsoft with. It has respectable power, its compact, has a nice rof, and I am capable of engaging a torso about 100 feet away with very good accuracy. Beyound that its spray and pray really. The battery lasts long enough to please, and you can customize it with silencers (my echo 1 has a ccw threaded metal outer barrel) and red dots to your hearts desire (with some exceptions since the top rail on this gun is smaller than most but with a high mount rail add on you're good to go.) I think that this model is better than the JG sd's, but beyond that I would just take an hour or two and do some research on pricing and performance on other types/styles of guns just in case your friend doesnt want an mp5, or even an AEG. | |
