E1 M4A1 Upgrade project Empty
PostSubject: E1 M4A1 Upgrade project   E1 M4A1 Upgrade project EmptyMon Mar 31, 2008 2:55 pm

Allrighty fellers,

here is the plan, take one of our oldest MPEG testers [Echo 1 M4A1] and make it into a force to be dealt with.

How will this be done?

In phased and gradual manner starting with the more inexpensive and simpler methods.

I value input on this though I have the project GENERALLY planned out.
Also, the qualifiers are, keep the upgrades in the mid priced range bc this is a mid priced gun. Upgrading it into the realm of crazy would negate the entire purchase of the MPEG.

So here is whats first up on deck:

Tight Bore barrel, probably deep fire, but maybe Systema. (Not much $ difference and Im tempted to try out Deep Fire to see how it stacks up).

9.6 Bat upgrade, using Frankenstein home brew bat mod.

Steel bushings prob systema.

Now, here is where I would like some input:

1. ROF is what I want to get out of this project, FPS needs to stay around where it is or even a little lower at 300 - 350 fps. So suggestions on spring upgrades should bear this in mind.

2. Gear upgrades to me are going to be possible but only in a reactionary sense. That is, if they fail, they'll get replaced.

3. The piston and cylinder currently have good compression so that is really not likely going to be undertaken unless new info becomes available.

4. Spring guides/nozzles and tappet plates are again going to be done in response to needs.

5. Exterior metal parts would be great! But, in light of the modest budget will not be doable unless a REALLY inexpensive source is cited.

6. Wiring will be considered, so suggestions on gauge and type are welcome.

So there are the qualifiers, the total price while not set in stone should not exceed $100 for ALL mods.

The idea is to determine which mods can yield the best performance increase on a shoestring (ish) budget.

Regards!

If you replaced the hop up also, it would be incredibly accurate.

In re: hop up.

To clarify, are we talking about only the bucking or the entire unit?

Also, suggestions on brand? Firefly etc...

For ROF, here is a simple setup that can get you high ROF out of the gun:

1- High speed motor, the G&P M120 is a very cost effective and fast motor, the TM EG1000 is very reliable, but at 28000RPM, is not as fast as the G&P M120. Systema Turbo would be an option if the gears and piston were replaced by higher end parts.

2- 9.6v, as you already mentioned, a 9.6v would be an obvious help, but make sure you invest in Intellect, or Elite cells, from experience, they are some of the best on the market.

3- Deans Connectors+ 16AWG wiring, will give you a ROF boost of 1 RPS minimum, plus it is much more reliable than the standard tamiya connectors.

4- Piston, for reliability, might as well get a new piston. Recommend Guarder, or G&P polyacetol.
-----------------

As for the hop up, I use a laylax soft bucking, with an element H nub. Works flawlessly.

for batteries, i always recommend www.cheapbatterypacks.com .

They also sell wiring and connectors for DIY jobs, so you can pick up the wiring and battery at the same place.

to house the 9.6v you can use these
http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=407_433_579&products_id=3559
the battery is housed inside the stock, but you will have to find a cheaper version

The spring should be left alone, a m100 would be to slow, but a m110 would make it 380

The G&P M120 is good, son is the Gaurder Turbo

A tightbore barrell, new gears would be great.

Housing a 9.6 battery inside the regular foregrip may be tricky, unless you split the battery in to 2 sticks (ive seen them sould like that) or you can try it in the foregrip.

I think that just the bucking is needed, but I'm not completely sure. I will have to do more research into hop ups. I know that for stock guns, TM has very good hop ups, but here are probably better hop ups you can buy for upgrades.

Everything has to add up to 100 bucks

the stock is 105 lol

ASGI has some really nice tight bores, Their db customs at 6.01mm and its around $50

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=31_55&products_id=3047

And i would go with a systema hop up bucking, thats what is in my E1 M733

K-rad, these metal bodies are pretty cheap, and I head d-boys metal bodies are not that bad.:

http://ebaybanned.com/index.php?cPath=24

Also, I have heard the H-out nub is a cheap and easy upgrade that REALLY helps accuracy and range:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Element-Hop-Up-Cushion-for-Marui-Airsoft-AEG-EL-IN0605_W0QQitemZ290218061967QQihZ019QQcategoryZ64635QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

I would def. also upgrade the hop up bucking too.

Systema hop up. I put one in my old MP5, the bb went flying when it was barely turned up. If you consider putting an m130, Here is what my brother did: Systema M130 spring, aluminum piston and piston head (sorry I forgot the brand), systema hellical torque up gears, and a systema torque up motor. It is a beast, and has lasted quite a while. It is a G&G RK104.
