| Well last night i fixed my friends Thompson. Five months before it had been upgraded by the people at our nearest Airsoftextreme (LA store). His gun broke down 2-3 months after (give or take a week). Not having known anything about gearbox work when it broke i had not thought of fixing it. Fast forward to now (when i know about gearbox work), i suggested i fix it for him, so i took the plunge at opened it up. I took some pics along the way, they arent great pics cus i didnt want to get grease on my camera lol, and because of bad lighting. To start we have the receiver + gearbox (kinda blurry sorry!) Detached motor inside peak at gears (lookin for shreaded gears) gearbox by itself CA gears??? nice AEX... Shreaded piston! Broken spring When i first opened it, i had found the spring guide dislodged from its place, and i had though that it was the only problem. But after i had put it back together it still wouldnt fire. So i opened it back up, took out the spring and to my surprise it was half the size it should have been! Along with finding the shreaded piston. Sadly though, im sure the shreading of the piston could have been avoided. My friend had frequently fired the gun after it broke down. I assume the spring broke first and when it went, pulling the would cause the gears to pull the piston back. But since the piston could not return to its original position (due to the broken spring), you had the gears grinding down the teeth of the piston every time the guns was fired while it was broken. So, i replaced the piston and spring with the ones in that were in my Galaxy Mp5-pdw, and it works perfectly fine! | |

| what did they upgrade? I think airsoftguy got his P90 upgraded there. They put in an upgraded spring for free........but they didn't add anything else. After a little while, his P90 broke and he had to get a new tappet plate and spring guide. So much for his "free" spring upgrade. | |

| I dont think it was AEX that did his. And I bet they put that in hoping that he would have to come back to buy new parts from them. | |

Well obviously the gears, the spring (he got an fps upgrade). There were metal shims...umm, i think the cylinder was new also. Cant really say since i had not looked in it previously to the upgrade.

| No, my store is not AEX. - RoboFURY wrote:

That is extremely unlikely, because they are a really good store, I buy stuff from them all the time, and they gave me the replacement parts for free.

| Santa clara has done nothing to me either. did he specify what brand, or did he just have them put it in. But then service and quality of the "emplyees" differ among stores | |

| If a stock gun of theres breaks, maybe because the spring or something isnt good with the gun, at AEX sometimes you just pay for repairs, and they will give you a free part. Because sometimes they mod guns, and they dont throw away the old parts | |

It was AEX, its only only store in our area that does upgrades, and besides the fact he said it was AEX... - fdsakiller wrote:

| Ask them to fix it for free, try to convince them. Then just ask them to put in stock parts. | |

Will the spring from the galaxy give the gun a higher FPS? omg! SO SORRY! lol The whole KWA thing got me confused. Umm, well the spring was upgraded when he sent it to AEX, and it had been shooting something like 340-350. It should be shooting lower now, something like 320, since that spring had already been broken in, and hadnt shot over 340 when i first got my galaxy.
