| Vote about Semi vs Full Auto and discuss which is better and why.
*Thisis not really a "What I use" topic. Discuss why you use it.

| Semi
Saves damage to gearbox, more battery, less bb's, less noise, harder to pin point shooter, less vibration more accuracy.

| All right, let me start by saying this... Yes I voted full auto...
However, if burst fire was an option up there, that would more accurately depict what I play with. I use short, contorlled bursts, (usually 3 to 5 rounds), and choose targets carefully. Why? The simple reason in probability. 3 shots increase your likelyhood of hitting an enemy, while one shot gives you two options- either you hit or you miss.
My auto is no crutch. It's a simple matter of using probability to choose a better firing mode. It's not as hit and miss as semi, and doesn't waste ammo like "Spray and Pray." I use midcaps and leave the highcaps in my bag.

| A real M60 on nonstop fire would leave bruises on your arm, barrel would overheat, and the accuracy would walk out the front door. --Real Steal, not airsoft
Airsoft is re-create a battle, and that means no spraying M60's.
10-15 round bursts is the correct thing for support, dosn't overheat, and accuracy would remain.

Last time I played airsoft, I got 10 kills, and used about 400 BBs. @Bolligan, would you consider that to many BBs to use in a 1 1/2 - 2 hour airsoft game?

| Well since i play a DMR role with my M14, I only use full auto in a do or die situation, im almost always on semi.
The only time I used full auto most of the game, was during one day at the trench field at Mr. Paintball, we were getting flanked from both sides by AEGs, w/ high ROF setups. So i had to really spray that day to save my rear end....it didn't work....

| it depends: Full auto is A LOT of fun but as booligan said 'It gives away ur positon". if it was only one person i saw and if i knew i could hit him, i would use semi. But if there was a group of people i would use full auto. | |

| It really depends on the situation. Sometimes you will want to take a few shots on Semi, but lets say you were playing in a CQC match or some was 30 feet away from you about to shoot. Would you rather have Semi or Full now? I have never just held down the trigger for a 20 second burst. That would be ridiculous 2-3 round bursts is all it should take. | |

| Anywhoo, I almost never use semi. If I want one shot, I just fire one shot on full auto. I can only remember one time when I I have had them fired at me, and usually, one comes right at you, one is about 1 ft. to you're right, and the 3rd is a about 1 ft. to you're left. I do not see any reason to limit yourself to one shot when you could have 3. | |

| What do you guys think about Support? Is it ok for support to fire non stop or should they fire in 10 - 30 round bursts? And if you say they should fire semi auto... | |

| I think if a guy is behind cover, use a 30 round burst.
But if they are running across open ground, its your CIVIC DUTY to just hold the trigger down

| Like most of you have said before i to only like to use semi and sometimes short bursts...the only time that i think that it is appropriate to use constant full auto fire is when your whole team is stuck in one location with the enemy closing in and you somewhat sacraficing youself by going ou and using full auto to trying to protect your team so tht they can get away..but other than tht i would say semi or 3-5 sho t burst is more than enought to take down most targets | |

| Yes, on full auto you will also reload faster giving the enemy the opportunity to strike back, on semi its harder for them to tell when you run out of ammo in your clip. | |

| there was no burst fire option, so i just voted full auto
with burst fire, it would be just as hard for others to tell how much ammo is in the mag than with semi. with a nice hi-cap or c/drum mag, 2-3 rd burst fire should last u quite a while

| You guys are all pretty modest, heck I am not gunna lie, I love auto. But here is the deal. In woodland I barely every use auto, it’s not really needed (most of the time). A few well placed shots on semi are much more effective. But in cqb, spray and pray baby!!! Okay, okay, not to much, but not to little either. Half of my shots will usually be 10 round bursts if I can. I mean my gun gets 13 rps...so its not like I am holding down the trigger forever. I understand its bad to do auto to long (Note to new gun users: when you first use your gun, use it on semi, give the gears some time to get friendly. Don’t go out and fire you whole mag on auto because its the coolest thing ever (I haven’t done this but its just common knowledge)...), and that’s why I don’t. But for cqb auto is so much more affective. And if you think I am bad you have no idea. At my field some people shoot more bb's than I could ever imagine firing in one round. But, if you have not played cqc you can’t really understand that auto will get you a lot more kills. I am not doing it all the time though; it will be half and half. If I am down at the end of the vent (a strip of field that runs along the length of the field and has access to every room on that side) and I want to push it, Ill fire a bunch of 10/5 second auto bursts and try to push it. If I am popping the corner, I wont do more then 3 seconds. So it all depends. Even though I do long bursts, I barely ever use more than one mag per round so...its all good. I know my tactics aren’t exactly jack orientated (something I try to do as much as possible), but 90% of the time he is using a pistol...and that’s a whole different story. | |

| I always fire in short bursts. Sometimes, I pull the trigger expecting a burst, and pull it to quickly because of my situation, and only fire one BB. (Last time I did this, I only hit the guy in the arm. And arms don't count. Dang!) I find, that in almost any situation, 3-5 round burst are the best. I aim, like I am going to fire one shot, but because I fire three, I have a much better chance of getting the kill. When giving cover, I also find bursts better, because if you fire one BB inaccurately, the guy is going to dodge it a little, and then shoot the guy you are supposed to be covering. Full auto will force them to get their head down, and give your teammate the chance to get to his new position. (You never know, it could be the medic, going to tag the guy with the grenade launcher ) Of course, their are situations where semi is better. As the ASF guide said, suppression is a good example. A few days ago, I was using my P90 in its first game, and when I purchased it, there were no extra magazines available. While my friend Alexander was reloading his MP5, I was giving him cover from this guy who kept popping up from behind a rock, by firing a 3 round bust every time his head went up. When he has reloaded, and I when to do something else, I quickly ran out of ammo, and was forced to go all the way back to reload. If I had fired maybe one semi BB every 2 seconds, I might have saved ammo. | |
