PostSubject: Airsoft Necessities   Airsoft Necessities EmptyTue Nov 20, 2007 8:23 pm

Some people have said that to get into airsoft, you need to spend at least $400 on all kinds of stuff, from helmets to hydration packs. In your opinion, what are the necessities of airsoft?

For me, I think you need:

A gun (Obviously)

BBs

A few extra mags

Camo (Or something similar)

Tac vest

Mask/goggles

AEG, 2 high caps, 9.6v battery, sling, camo, eye protection.

High caps:
By having high capacity magazines you have the ability to fire well in Semi auto, but have the extra rounds to lay down intermediate cover fire.

9.6v Battery:
The 9.6v allows for a higher fire rate, overall increasing your AEG's performance. Also, this is a must have for those trying to pull the M120.

Sling:
Does your gun ever get heavy? Also, if you position right, a sling is just as effective as a bipod.

Camo:
Stealth. Be unseen and unheard.

Eye Protection:
No eyes, good luck seeing your target.

A gun

Camo can be necessary or just thick clothing. (depends on how serious you are playing)

Helmet (I don't use a full face mask anymore, too hard to aim)

Goggles

BBS DUH

I love slings

Maybe an extra high cap

Smart charger is a must

I usually wear/carry with me; camo jacket, goggles, helmet, sling, a bottle of 1000 bbs, and that's it. (I don't need to carry an extra battery or mag because are games aren't that long)

It's balaclava. I use one sometimes but have opted for just my Oakleys as of late. It serves several purposes. You can wear it in at least four or five different ways that I know of and can serve for keeping warm during cold games and, in my case, allow total coverage of the face when used in tandem with glasses, goggles, etc. It also keeps impact down from shots to the head. Look it up on google or wiki for some good images. A camo one is the way to go imo, but keep it low weight fabric or thin fleece otherwise your breathing will be labored when you run (not to mention all saliva-ish). If you're one to go all out with gear, this thing is a must to check out.

^I recommend you wear safety glasses under the mesh mask. I've seen chunks of bbs and paint from the mesh pass through mesh masks when shot. You only get one set of eyes, you should protect them with the best option, and mesh isn't the best option at all.

As for the topic, the only necessity you actually need to play is a pair of quality ANSI/MIL STD approved goggles. You can borrow guns and ammo until you decide you really want to get into it, so the only thing you really need at first is eye protection. Then decide on a gun, etc...
