PostSubject: TM FAMAS   TM FAMAS EmptyMon Oct 29, 2007 10:21 pm

Need some advice on the TM FAMAS ( Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne ).

First, lets start with external questions.
(1) How durable is the plastic used? Many reviewers I have looked at said it will creek, but none tell how strong it is.

(2) How sturdy is the Bipod included?

(3) The magazines for the FAMAS are 60 rounds, it is rumored you can convert it to use the M16 magazines, true or false?
( Don't want to use high caps )

Now, let's get to the internals.
(1) How much of a pain is it to get the gearbox out?

(2) How well can the FAMAS be upgraded?

Here is a preview of the FAMAS FELIN version ( France is working on finishing this version now )

I cant help you that much with the externals, but on the internals I can answer your questions.

(1)They gearbox is difficult to get out of the body, but it is possible.

(2) TM FAMAS wasn't designed to be upgraded, there are no upgrade parts for it. Though I think there are TBs for it.

Also, putting in a 9.6v in the FAMAS, is like putting a 10.8v in a stock TM. AKA, don't do it

What I would love to do is use the gun in stock condition until it dies, then remove the gearbox and upgrade it.

By upgrades I mean removing every internal gearbox part and customizing it to use 9.6v batteries and fire around 350Fps.

The FAMAS body is the ultimate design, why do you think the French had it designed in 1967. Right now there are 3 active versions and the FELIN version in production. ( Yes I know other guns have more versions, this is simply my opinion on the body )

The only problem I have is finding the Version parts, are they even made at all. Maybe they just have to be custom ordered?

There are no aftermarket gearbox parts for V1 gearboxes, you would have to find custom parts, but I dont know if anybody would make custom parts for a V1.
